My Sound Clip : (Look on Mac 3)

To create my radio show i used a programe called garageband. I then recorded the sounds on i Movie and imported them into garage band, through use of pre made beats and one i created my self i was able to layer the sound and create a very full sounding clip. As part of the show i needed an interview, so i decided to go for a dance based theme interviewing a dj, using an archive sound clip of one of his live sets, to do this i created a short extract of a song from a live set, with crowd cheering and then converted it to an mp3 format, from here i sent it to the existing podcast and synced it in with the talking of Evan, to keep the continuity going i faded the base track flowing then faded into the sound clip, to finish i ended with a bit of talking before using a recorded sound which signifys the end of the podcast. As you can see below each bar i have used volume control, this allows me to fade different sounds in and out and can lower the impact when anyone shouts. Aswell as this i have split up the sounds and repeated them to create a greater impact sound.




The Target Audience

As i am going with a dance style radio show and am interviewing a new eira dance dj i have decided to create my jingles and backing tracks so that they are appealing with the younger genereation clubbers from the age of 12 to 30 where dance music seems to be most popular right now. The interview is with a DJ and soo if it was genereally a recognised acomplished DJ then it is more likely the audience are goin to enjoy listening and take note of the sound clip the radio plays.

From what i have heard, the radio shows and channels such as radio 1 use very punchy bass lines, and as these are appealing to the audience i am looking to put my clip out to it seems like the right road to go down. Existing guests for these shows are mainly DJ's and actors who give the audience latest clips which appeal to the 'raver' type of audience, for this reason i think Evan was a good DJ to talk to.

Evalutation

Having finished my podcast i am reasonably pleased with the final product, i have managed to merge the sounds well to create a continuous clip which is enjoyable to watch and doesn't sound too tacky. However i think that if i were to come and do it again i would be able to create a more flowing podcast. For instance the fact that i had to pre record the voioce clips before editting in the backing tracks and introducing the archive sound clip meant that i ended up recording on two different devices, this lead to an uneven sound in the middle of my project which sounds slightly out of place, however having said this i think that through the use of sound engineering and editting of voice sounds i have been able to make it sound like the diference in the voices is meant to be there.

The introductory Jingle is something else i am proud of as it highlights the 'dancyness' of the show and introduces the audience to Radio Deano. The fade out of pre recorded sounds help take the show from contrasting sounds and soo at the end of the jingle the base track remains the same as the bass track used for the opening jingle, this creates continuity and makes the podcast move more cleanly from one sound to another.

Finally as a presenter for my show i had to think how i was going to talk to the guest aswell as the sort of questions i was going to ask, however as i recorded the show off the top of my head it meant that a lot of the questions asked had to be very spontaneous, however this made the conversation seem to flow a lot more as it meant we were'nt reading off a sheet. Perhaps next time it would be more suitable to create a few short questions which could be refferred to should the conversation begin to slow, however i think this time it's not such a problem as the bits of speech that were'nt put in the first time could be editted in later, this would not have been the case if it were a live show however.


Codes And Conventions of a Radio Show.

In order to have a successful radio show, it must sell and appeal to your target audience, this must be followed up by using the beats, sounds and topics which the audience you are selling to desire.

A catchy jingle is key as it will intertextualise the sound and let consumers have a sound which they can instantly relate back to; in my case 'Radio Deano' and catch their attention next time they come to listen to my pod cast.
